Syproxen (Naproxen Sodium)
Syproxen is used in musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as ankylosing spondylitis,osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis including juvenile idiopathic arthritis.It is also used in dysmenorrhoea, headache including migraine, postoperative pain soft-tissue disorders, acute gout, and to reduce fever. Naproxen is usually given by mouth as the free acid or as the sodium salt.
Dosage and Administration
Rheumatic disorders: the usual dose of naproxen sodium is 1 tablet (275mg) to 2 tablets (550mg) daily either as a single dose or in 2 divided doses.
Dysmenorrhoea and Acute musculoskeletal disorders:
Initial dose: 1 tablet (275mg) followed 1/2 tablet (137.5mg) every 6 to 8 hours, up to a maximum daily dose of 2 1/2 tablet (687.5mg) after the first day.
Initial Dose: 1 1/2 tablet (412.4mg) followed by 1/2 tablet (137.5mg) every 8 hours.
Migraine: 1 1/2 tablet (412.4mg) at first symptom of an impending attack and if necessary, this may be followed after at least half an hour by further doses of 1/2 tablet (137.5mg) to 1 tablet (275mg) throughout the day to a total maximum daily dose of 2 1/2 tablets(687.5mg) or as prescribed by physician.
